CK-9 called out by PG county police at 1130 on 28 Oct for a 72 YO female missing since 0830 that morning. We responded with 4 dog teams and 2 flankers along with many other SAR teams all run by the PGCP. About 5:30 PM the police helicopter spotted her walking in the woods alive and well:-) Happy ending to the search.

Teams Toby, Leyna, and Waze traveled to the Civil Air Patrol Pathfinder School in Westminster Maryland to teach cadets how work with K-9 Search Teams. After a classroom lesson, Pathfinders had the chance to watch both HR and livefind demonstrations.

At 0130 this dark morning 3 Aug 2024, CK-9 was called out by PG County Police for a 79 YO missing man with dementia. We responded with 3 live find search dog teams and a flanker. Dog teams Sassy, Leyna and Puma completed their first night task assignments and had just started their second assigned tasks at daybreak when news came that the man was happily found alive on someone's porch over a mile away 🙂 ....... Congrats to Team Julia/Puma for making their first official search with Dona flanking.

CK-9 Team "Sassy" made the happy find around 1500 deep in the woods. He was littered out over 700 meters by the efforts of many folks/agencies. He was then returned to his happy family:-)

CK-9 had a fantastic night training last night joined by members of Boy Scout Troop 706! ☀️ The evening started with a day-time search exercise. Multiple live find teams deployed flanked by scouts. The scouts then practiced carrying subjects on hard and soft litters. 🌑 After sun set, live find, HRD, and tracking teams deployed on a very dark night. Training finished with thermal binocular practice. Thank you to Troop 706, we loved having you and good luck with your SAR merit badge!

Chris/Boone and I had a great time with Chris’s old Scout troop in Reisterstown last night 29 Sep 2022,about 20 kids. Chris and I talked about SAR showing equipment, Boone did three great runaways with a few of them, and they got to view Thermal Binocs and NV Binocs in the dark. They loved it. Many of them will attend our night training at Bisco Gray mid Oct😊

Our own Kita Konerth participated in the 9/11 Memorial stair climb challenge to support local fallen firefighter's families. Each participant wore a name tag of a fallen firefighter and when they finished they rang a bell and read their name. Kita carried George DiPasquale, firefighter from ladder 2 of NYFD........ Calvert County Sheriff’s Office called out CK-9 to assist them in a search yesterday. We responded with 2 Base OPS, 2 cadaver dog teams and 6 flankers. Team Toby with Sheriff’s officers flanking made the sad find. The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has stated that Ms. D’Angel has been located and is deceased. There are no signs of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing.

Thursday afternoon and Friday Morning CK-9 was called out by St. Mary's County Sherriff's Office to search for a missing 30-year-old man. We responded with 5 CK-9 dogs and 7 members on day 1 and 2 dogs and 5 members on day 2. We would also like to thank Search and Rescue Dogs of Maryland for working together with us to bring closure to the search event.

Simulated suicidal women on an outing with 6 autistic teenagers & 2 distraught parents went missing(simulated) at Glendenning. CK-9 responded with 5 airscent dogs, 1 HRD dog & 2 tracking/trailing dogs deploy. We reviewed lost persons behavior for suicidal & autistic people. Thanks to all the subjects that came out to help.

Police investigation determined the man was not in the search area so all teams were recalled out of the woods. He was later found by Police at the train station in Bowie. Happy Ending:-)

Massive search yesterday in Saint Mary's county for a 5YO Autistic boy who ran away into thick woods during school. CK-9 sent 7 dog teams/handlers and 10 others searchers/support folks.HAPPY ENDING three hours later when the boy was found by neighborhood searchers reacting to the reverse 911 emergency assist call. He was hiding in a tree stand. GREAT JOB to the Saint Mary's Sheriffs Office running the search, the Fire agencies, neighbors and all others:-)

Ck-9 called out 31 May 2016 at 2200 by NRP for a 71 YOM with mental issues missing since 1500 that day. We responded with 7 Search Dog Teams and only 1 flanker. We searched until 0400 the next day 1 Jun. Unfortunately the man has not been found...His body was found in the water the next day.

Dog search plans were quickly made on arrival, all teams were briefed and in the process of deploying when word came in he had been found alive by LE along a trail.

At 2030 that evening the subject arrived at her home alive and well; and all search teams were then recalled. Happy ending:-)

CK-9 was Called Out to Fort Washington National Park MD 16&18 Oct 11 by DNRP/MSP to search for a missing Virginia man. We responded using a total of 13 searchers (11 STMS) and 4 dogs (1 Wilderness HRD , 2 in HRD training and 1 airscent). The man was not found :-(
Call Out Piscataway Park 14 & 16 Oct 11 (3)

CK-9 was requested by MSP to return to Piscataway Park on 14 & 16 Oct 11 to search in selected areas of high interest for the same missing woman. We sent a total 4 dogs and 12 searchers to cover the areas.

CK-9 also participated in the CFC Charity Fair at the National Guard Bureau on 7 Oct 11; and the 3 Nov 11 US Department of Labor Veterans Salute Kick-Off and Charity Fair.

CK-9 responded on 25 and 27 Sep 11 to a MSP call out to search Piscataway Park for a lost female missing since July . CK-9 responded with 11 STMs and 3 dogs (all training in HRD).

Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad invited CK-9 to come brief their team and do a SAR Dog Demo. We all had a great time and had lunch together at the Squad.

CK9 was called out by Calvert Sherrif's Department at 1700 for a 93 year old walk-away subject. We responded with 8 STMs and 3 dogs, Bailey, Starbuck, and Jett. Luckily she was found and in good health!

We were called out by DNRP to meet at 0900 9 Apr 11 at Patapsco State Park to participate in a large scale search for a person missing since Dec 2010. We responded with 9 STMs and 3 airscent dogs. All three of our dog teams searched through the day with all the other teams and organizations. Unfortunately she was not found

Called out by DNR at 1930 for an Alzheimer's walk away missing for 6 hours. We responded with 7 STMs and 2 dogs (one not arriving in time), We searched all night and into the morning before he was found alive.
Anne Arundel DHS exercise 14 Dec 10 (7)

Calvert K-9s was invited to participate in the Anne Arundel Department of Homeland Security exercise that involved Fire, Police, MSP, DNRP and 2 SAR Teams. We sent 2 airscent dog teams with Flankers. Great experience on a large multi organizational level, and fun to boot.............but very very cold!

6 SAR Teams particiated in a 2 day SAREX in the Darlington Md area. All 3 subjects were found in a 6 hour period! We sent 4 dogs and 8 STMs.

CK-9 hosted a Signcutting/Tracking expert at CCNP all day Saturday. Rob was a terrific instructor. We all learned the basics of how to follow tracks on our hands and knees............it is really really hard :-)

Team Starbuck executed over a 3 hour search; Team Jett conducted 2 separate task assigned search missions.FANTASTIC JOB by ALL!

Joint SAREX with 5 SAR teams at Boy Scout Camp (BCMSR) 17 Jul 10 run by Delmarva. CK-9 had 8 members and 3 dogs. Great performance by all! CK-9 found the last subject and assisted in rescue litter extraction. Heat index 100 degrees!

CK9 responded to a DNR call out at 1730 on 19 Jun for a 52 year old subject in the Marriottsville, MD area west of Baltimore. We responded with 8 STMs and Starbuck immediately getting a night time airscent search area on arrival assigned with 6 of our own STMs and Starbuck! Our team was in the area heading directly toward the subjects home where he showed up before we arrived and we were recalled by base. Great job to all!
